![]() I will note that it wasn't made clear upon ordering that the CUSTOMER is responsible for unloading the materials from the freight truck (all >600 lbs in my case) and that unless you specified with your freight dealer their truck may not have a lift gate.fortunately for me, R+L Carriers did my delivery and not only did they unload it with a motorized pallet jack, they also moved it down our driveway to a good location (it was supposed to be "curbside delivery," so super shout-out to R+L Carriers□).All the pieces were correct aside from a few scuffs from shipping, but they provide touch-up paint. We were given a shipping date of 1 month later, and they were true to their word.Everything was packaged fairly securely although several layers were shrink-wrapped with other parts that had started to come open. ![]() The designer for our project (Claudia Moffa) was very helpful getting things designed. When shopping for an outdoor spiral staircase for my deck renovation, Paragon came it at similar pricing, faster shipment and was able to do matching railing for the deck which was a huge plus. But the shipping, and customer service is below average. So if you really want movement on any complaints I guess that would be the best way.I would have given a 5 star review because the product was nice and high quality in my opinion. We reached out multiple times via customer service over a 2-3 week span, with no real results.I submitted a bad review via google, and they resolved the issue of the one missing piece within 2 days. I would imagine that many of their packages end up being damaged and damaging the stair case materials.Once assembled the stairs looked great and the quality was better than expected. We ended up being short one very small piece (1 single baluster cup) so we couldn't finish the stair case and get it inspected for our permits as planned. ![]() They probably should be using liquid foam spray when shipping to better protect the product. ![]() recommend anyone that ordered a spiral staircase frequently check the status once shipped via a phone call, because they wont update you if they are behind schedule on your shipment delivery. They could do a better job of packaging the stairs, it came in a very large box and the box was completely smashed, luckily there wasn't any damage to the stairs. The order process was a good experience and the sales person was helpful and responsive to all our questions. The freight company that they contract through wasn't very good at communicating that they were behind schedule. It was a mixed bag when it came to Paragon. The absolute smallest opening size we can work with is 44 inches x 44 inches.ģ’6” Diameter (42 inches) – requires at least a 44 inch x 44 inch floor openingĤ’0” Diameter (48 inches) – requires at least a 50 inch x 50 inch floor openingĤ’6” Diameter (54 inches) – requires at least a 56 inch x 56 inch floor openingĥ’0” Diameter (60 inches) – requires at least a 62 inch x 62 inch floor openingĥ’6” Diameter (66 inches) – requires at least a 68 inch x 68 inch floor openingĦ’0” Diameter (72 inches) – requires at least a 74 inch x 74 inch floor opening If you are putting your spiral through a hole in the floor, here is a quick guide on the MINIMUM opening that you will need for each Paragon diameter. The two extra inches ensures that there will be no finger pinch-points. You need at least 44”x44” opening because you’ll need two extra inches for your fingers to travel along the handrail as you walk up and down the stairs. 3’6” translates to 42 total inches in diameter and therefore the MINIMUM opening size that you need MUST be 44 inches x 44 inches (44”x44”). Keep in mind that no matter what diameter of stair you choose, the minimum finished opening for your stair should be at least 2” bigger than the stair itself.įor example, the smallest stair that we offer is 3 feet 6 inches in diameter. Here is a list of our diameter and their clear walking paths.ģ’6” Diameter – 17 inch clear walking pathĤ’0” Diameter – 20 inch clear walking pathĤ’6” Diameter – 23 inch clear walking pathĥ’0” Diameter – 26 inch clear walking pathĥ’6” Diameter – 29 inch clear walking pathĦ’0” Diameter – 32 inch clear walking pathĭetermining the diameter that is best for you depends on a few variables including the intended use of the stair (will you be carrying items up and down the stair?), how much it will be used (daily, monthly?) as well as budget. As you increase spiral stair diameter in 6” increments, clear walking path increases in 3” increments. 17 inches is the clear walking path of our smallest diameter 3’6”. If you have a sliding door in your home, slide it open 17 inches. The best way to envision the clear walking path of a spiral stair is to use the Sliding Door test. Clear Walking Path represents the space that you have to walk up and down the stairs.
